Be Active scheme
The award winning scheme offers a diverse range of free activities for all Birmingham residents to enjoy.
Activities include swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions at certain times during the day.
To become a member of be active you will need two forms of ID with your name and address on. We will accept the following:
- current leisure card
- council tax bill – paid to Birmingham City Council
- utility bill
- tenancy agreement
- driving licence
- bank statement
- benefit statement
- medical card
For customers living in residential hostels or similar communal accommodation, a letter on official letterhead confirming residential status and signed by the manager of the accommodation is acceptable.
A free gym induction is included as part of the be active scheme, an induction is required for all customers prior to using the gym.
Please note, due to current COVID-19 restrictions, some activities may not be available. Please contact your local centre to find out more and to book an appointment to become a Be Active member.

Passport to Leisure
A Passport To Leisure (PTL) card entitles the holder to discounts of up to 20% off most activities at Council-run leisure centres, wellbeing centres and swimming pools.
