Who we are
The Alexander Stadium is an international athletics venue located in the heart of the country that hosts major athletics events, such as the Diamond League series and British Championships.
Outdoor facilities
Running tracks
A World Athletics certified track has been installed in the main stadium, alongside a new 6-lane warm-up track with a dedicated throws and cage area.
The stadium offers:
- a class 1, 9-lane international athletics track
- a 6-lane, 400m community track
3G pitch
We have a new 3G Pitch on the warm-up track infield.
It is marked out for:
- full-size football
- small-sized football (3 pitches available crossways)
- rugby union
- rugby league
The pitch is fully floodlit and can be accessed from the Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre (GMAC) or new stadium West Stand.
How to book
We are taking bookings for the athletics track, warm-up track and pitch hire.

Indoor facilities
The High-Performance Centre (HPC) is now closed due to construction work.
The HPC will remain closed until the construction is complete on the new:
- 120 station fitness suite
- 30-person cycle studio
- fitness and 3G customer changing facilities
We expect the construction works to be complete in Spring 2025.
