What is an interment fee?

The interment fee is the burial fee. This is the fee for digging the grave at the time of the funeral.

Interment fees may vary, depending on when the grave was purchased or when it was last used for a burial and the type of grave.

Graves bought before 1 April 1993

If you bought a grave before 1 April 1993 and haven’t already used it, you will pay a higher interment fee than people who bought a grave later.

This is because you didn’t pay the Cemetery Maintenance Fee when you bought the grave.

Graves bought after 1 April 1993

If you bought a grave after 1 April 1993, you paid the Cemetery Maintenance Fee as part of your Exclusive Right of Burial costs.
