Free Events and Activities
The Rangers organise hundreds of (mostly) free
events every year that allow people to explore and learn more about the
natural environment.
Our Out & About booklet has full
details, including events during the school holidays. Download the
latest copy by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this page or
pick up a copy from Park Visitor Centres or your
local library.
And remember that it costs absolutely nothing just
to take a walk or a
bicycle ride in your local park. Visit a park near you today!

Sport and Leisure Activities in Parks
For the more athletic members of our communities the parks service offers a
complete range of sports, including ptiches for hire (tel: 0121 464
6024),
military style fitness classes for all levels in Cannon Hill Park and
angling at many of our parks. For something a little less energetic, we
offer
walk 2000 routes across the city and
allotment gardening. We also provide a safe and exciting environment for
our children's development through our many play areas.

Holding an Event in Birmingham Parks
If you are an event organiser and would like to
hold an event in a park you can
apply online or download a PDF version of the application form below.
Filming in Parks
Filming in
Birmingham's parks and open spaces is only permitted once permission has
been granted. Film Birmingham
, the city council's film office, is now the single point of contact for all
filming requests for Birmingham's parks and leisure facilities. For more
information email:
info@filmbirmingham.co.uk or telephone 0121 675 3883.

Wildlife and Nature Conservation
The
Birmingham Parks Ranger Service works with local communities to protect
and conserve Birmingham's plants and wildlife on 140 listed nature
conservation sites. Have a look at our latest
Monthly Wildlife Article or some suggestions on how you can
Do ONE Thing for Wildlife.
Keeping Your
Park Beautiful
The statistics for our parks are
amazing: we produce over 2,500,000 plants for our city every year. We
maintain over 94,000
street trees and
Sutton Park covers an area of 2,400 acres and is the largest urban nature
reserve in Europe. If you would like to learn more about conservation of
our local natural environment and the planning process, take a look at
the
Nature Conservation Strategy for Birmingham.
Getting Involved
The
Birmingham Open Spaces Forum is a new network of groups and active
citizens who want to improve green open spaces for the community and
wildlife.
