This website provides recent population statistics and a selection of results from the 2001 Census. The national Census of Population took place on 27th March 2011. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the agency responsible for the Census in England and Wales. The Census is the most comprehensive source of information about the country's population. First results from the 2011 Census will not be available until summer 2012.
