Apply for a new premises licence for massage or other special treatment
If you want to provide massage or special treatments at a premises in Birmingham you must have a licence.
This includes treatments such as:
- body massage
- therapeutic spa baths
- herbal baths
Each premises will be inspected annually to check that health and safety requirements are being met, as well as adequate hygiene facilities.
West Midlands Police must be notified of all licence applications.
The fee for a new massage and special treatment premises licence is dependent on the number of treatments your premises or business practices. Please see the fees and charges page for further details.
Apply in writing
To apply by email, complete the downloadable application form with a scan of your signature and email it to email@example.com with a completed personal details form for each person who will be giving treatment. After we’ve received your application, a licensing officer will contact you to take a debit or credit card payment for the appropriate fee
To apply by post, print the downloadable application form, complete it and return it to the address below with a completed personal details form for each person who will be giving treatment. Please include a cheque or postal order for the appropriate fee with your postal application, made payable to 'Birmingham City Council'.
