Active Birmingham Activity finder (ABAF)

The Active Birmingham Activity Finder (ABAF) is a website that makes it easy to find physical activity sessions anywhere in Birmingham.

You can search for:

  • a specific sport or activity
  • anything close to your location
  • all of the sessions at a particular venue

You can also search for sessions provided for specific ages, genders, or different access needs.

The activity finder will show both free and paid sessions. Use it to:

  • find activities online and in-person that suit your needs and preferences
  • get directions for walking, cycling, or using public transport to reach parks, community centres, and other activity locations
  • access information about local physical activity services and facilities
  • discover what’s happening in green and urban spaces, including activities run by local groups - such as the Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS)

The Get Active Your Way guide

We have produced the Get Active Your Way guide which includes a workout plan, diet tips and information on free and low cost facilities in your area.

The guide is available in a number of langauges:

We have worked to create this guide to promote recommended physical activity levels in line with UK Physical Activity guidelines.

We want this guide to be culturally sensitive and competent, and we would like to hear your feedback and views on it.

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS)

The Active Wellbeing Society is working to build healthy and happy communities living active and connected lives.

They run activities for the community in parks and open spaces.

TAWS is based in communities that need it the most, and aims to support community development.

You will find their activities in the Active Birmingham Activity Finder.

Sports for your health and wellbeing

We have produced helpful posters for a number of different sports, detailing their:

  • health benefits
  • wellbeing benefits
  • information about how you can get involved
