Next steps
In October 2023, we conducted a formal consultation to advertise the Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) for proposed 30mph speed limit reductions across Birmingham.
A formal consultation was conducted from November to December 2024 on the Speed Limit Orders (the legal documents required to make changes to the status of the road).
During this consultation, residents were able to provide comments on the scheme and submit a formal rejection. We received over 800 responses. You can view related documents including a TRO objection report and the Full Business Case on Be Heard.
Following this consultation, the Cabinet Member for Transport and the Assistant Director of Transport and Connectivity authorised the Speed Limit Orders.
The programme for delivery of the speed limit changes is now being finalised, and more information on when works to remove redundant signs and install new ones where required will be published in due course.
There will also be a communications campaign at the time the new speed limits come into effect.
