High-Rise Living Group (HRLG)
The HRLG acts as an advisory and consultative group working in partnership with Birmingham City Council to:
- ensure that all high-rise blocks meet the latest building safety regulations, including:
- fire safety
- structural integrity
- health and safety standards
- provide a platform for residents to:
- voice their concerns
- share experiences
- contribute to decisions that affect their homes and communities
- act as a bridge between residents and Birmingham City Council services, ensuring clear, timely, and accessible communication on policies, procedures, and building safety updates
- review and provide feedback on proposed changes to relevant procedures and service delivery, ensuring they reflect the needs and priorities of high-rise residents
- scrutinise relevant performance data and trends to identify areas for improvement, and hold services accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes
- work in partnership with housing management, and other stakeholders, to co-design solutions and improve high-rise living
HRLG membership
Membership of the HRLG includes:
- a representative from the City Housing Involvement Board (CHIB)
- 4 Local Housing Involvement Board (LHIB) representatives – 1 from each quadrant (North, East, South, Central)
- Other representatives for this group will comprise tenants or leaseholders or block inspectors with an interest in high rise living
