Sheltered Housing Involvement Board

The citywide Sheltered Housing Involvement Board (SHIB) is a sub-group of the City Housing Involvement Board (CHIB) and represents the needs of people who live in sheltered and extra care housing schemes across the city.

SHIB membership

The citywide Sheltered Housing Involvement Board members are elected representatives from the 10 constituencies across the city.

SHIB meetings

The SHIB meet to:

  • review policies and procedures for sheltered accommodation
  • co-design solutions identified as part of a review of tenant satisfaction measures and complaints about sheltered accommodation
  • focus on the health and safety needs of tenants living in sheltered accommodation
  • work with the local housing team and partners to develop opportunities for tenants within the schemes to get involved, encouraging active participation in safety practice, through:
    • regular meetings
    • workshops
    • engagement activities

The group aims to meet a minimum of 4 times a year at various housing sheltered schemes sites across the city.
