What is the Shared Care Record (ShCR)
Our experience of working with COVID-19 showed the importance of health and care professionals caring for a person being able to see their information without delay.
This is why we developed an electronic record of a person's care, called the Birmingham and Solihull Shared Care Record or ShCR. It is also known as the Collaborative Care Record (CCR).
ShCR made a joined-up approach to health and care much more possible. This means you should no longer need to answer the same questions multiple times when you see a social worker.
Before ShCR, information was recorded on different computer systems that were not connected, which meant the health and care organisations looking after you could not share your information with each other.
It helps health and social care staff see the most up-to-date information about you when they are working with you.
This will give professionals directly involved in your care a quicker and more complete view of the care and treatment you've had across all services. This means they can give you better, safer and more joined-up care.
We know you only want to tell your story and share information once when receiving care from any health or social care organisation across Birmingham and Solihull.
