Local food justice legends

The Birmingham Food Revolution has been in the making for a long time – with many individuals, charities, organisations and business going above and beyond to ensure the citizens of Birmingham have access to food, places to cook and eat, and the ability to make the most of the Food System.

Discover some of our Local Food Justice Legends below:

  • Food Justice Network – A coalition of more than 200 community groups supporting residents in need and campaigning to end food poverty, inequalities and injustices.
  • Incredible Surplus – Originally established in 2014 as The Real Junk Food Project Birmingham, we intercept food and other usable materials that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and other sources, and provide them to individuals and community organisations on a “pay-as-you-feel” basis.
  • Fareshare – A national network of charitable food redistributors, reducing food waste and supporting charities and community groups.

If there are organisations that you believe should be listed on this page, email FoodSystemPH@Birmingham.gov.uk with the name and contact information for the organisation, or nominate them through our online form.
