Perry Barr Residential Scheme wins yet another award. This time, landing ‘Best Project of the Year’ in the RTPI’s West Midlands Awards for Planning Excellence 2023. The entry will go forward to compete in the RTPI’s national Awards for Planning Excellence 2023, with winners to be announced in November.

Construction of 968 homes on Perry Barr Residential Scheme (Phase One) completed, with outstanding social value targets benefitting the local community also delivered. New homes for rent or sale are being brought to market, and residents are expected to move in later this year.

February 2023

Planning application submitted to deliver more much-needed family homes on three plots within Perry Barr Residential Scheme (PBRS) Phase One.

Out to public consultation from 12 February, subject to a decision by the planning committee, the proposals would see the total number of homes on the plots increase from 58 to 84, helping meet the city’s clearly established demand for quality family housing.

Overall, the number of homes across the entirety of PBRS Phase One remains unchanged at 1,414.

November 2022

Perry Barr Regeneration recognised in double win at Insider Media’s 2022 West Midlands Property Awards. The winning schemes are the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment (Construction Project of the Year) and Perry Barr Regeneration Scheme (Regeneration Project of the Year).

Perry Barr Residential Scheme (PBRS) lands prestigious RICS UK Award – The council-led regeneration of Perry Barr received national recognition at the RICS UK Award ceremony on 21 October when it was named as winner in the Residential Project category of the 2022 edition of the awards.

Green light to Galey Park 'pop-up' venue

Birmingham City Council’s Planning Committee has approved the transformation of the Galey Park site off Walsall/Aldridge Roads. The site will become a temporary, mixed-use ‘pop-up venue’ to activate the site at the heart of Perry Barr prior to permanent redevelopment.

Phase one includes up to 14 container units.

Gold Award for Perry Barr Residential Scheme’s (PBRS) lead contractor Lendlease

The team overseeing the development of 1,400 new homes as part of PBRS Phase One has been awarded RoSPA’s Gold Award for demonstrating consistently high health and safety standards on site.

Perry Barr Residential Scheme smashes job creation target and brings wide range of community benefits

Principal contractor Lendlease has announced that 512 jobs have been created against a target of 400, which was set to support the local economy and bring wider community benefits.

Over £250m has been spent locally and more than 1,300 people have been upskilled on the site.

Additionally, the workforce has provided over 2,300 hours of volunteering for local charities, including Birmingham Crisis Centre and the food bank at Eden Boys’ School. Here's how to find out more.

Innovative offsite manufacturing is speeding up Perry Barr’s residential scheme build by making it possible for around 20 bathroom ‘pods’ to be installed each day.

This has saved weeks of traditional work involving multiple trades, reduced the carbon footprint and supported stringent Covid-19 compliance.
