Rent payment holidays

What happens when you have cleared your rent

If your rent accounts are clear or in credit, Secure Tenants have two rent payment holidays a year. These are usually two weeks in December and two weeks in March.

Some garage rent accounts also have payment holidays.

If any money is owed on the account, the rent payment holidays should be used to clear any debt.

Tenants who are in debt and pay by Direct Debit will have payments adjusted and receive a revised schedule of payments.

Tenants are notified in March of:

  • rent payment holidays
  • new rent and housing charges

If you are away from your property for a long time

If you go away for longer than 2 weeks you must contact:

  • the Rent Service on 0121 675 2006
  • Benefit Services on 0121 464 7000 if you get Housing Benefit

If you are going into hospital or on holiday you can authorise someone to act on your behalf. You are still liable to pay rent.
