Pay using a barcode
Barcodes are replacing plastic rent payment cards. You can use them in the same way.
You can find the barcode on your council tenant rent letter.
Take the letter containing the barcode to your:
- local PayPoint store to pay by cash
- local PayZone outlet by cash or debit card
- post office, to pay by cash, debit card or cheque
Make your cheque payable to ‘Birmingham City Council Housing’ and write your name, address and 12-digit payment reference number on the back.
The bar code will be scanned and payment taken. You should ask for a receipt.
If you lose your barcode or it becomes unreadable you can:
- make an immediate payment by calling the 24 hours a day automated service on 0121 464 2001
- request a replacement letter containing a barcode by calling the Rent Service on 0121 675 2006 between 9:00am and 5:00pm, or email rent@birmingham.gov.uk
