After your gap year

On returning from your travels, you will need to assess what you have learnt on your gap year and be able to articulate this to future employers. It is a useful exercise to create a gap year diary, recording your experiences and what you gained from them. Employers like to see candidates who both set and achieved their goals. They also respect those who learnt from their mistakes and demonstrated their problem solving ability.

Remember that not only will you acquire skills on your gap year, such as team working, organisation and problem solving. You may also improve your personal attributes such as your confidence, your adaptability and your independence.
