Tell us about a change in circumstances

Parents and carers of children, young people and adults who are currently receiving travel assistance from the council must let us know immediately about any change in circumstances which may affect their entitlement to travel assistance.

Our priority is to ensure that eligible children, young people and adults continue to receive their travel assistance without interruption.

Why you must tell us about a change in circumstances

You must tell us about a change in circumstances so that we can confirm whether the child, young person or adult currently receiving travel assistance will still be eligible for their support.

If they are still eligible, we might need to make adjustments to their travel assistance arrangements based on their new circumstances.

When to tell us about a change in circumstances

You must tell us whenever the circumstances of a child, young person or adult receiving travel assistance change in a way that might affect their entitlement to travel assistance.

This applies to all forms of travel assistance provided by the council, including travel passes.

Changes in circumstance that may affect entitlement to travel assistance include, but are not limited to:

  • change in school or college, including a change of campus or school site
  • change in home address
  • change in personal or family circumstances, such as a change in household income
  • change in a child’s, young person’s or adult’s needs
