Apply for independent travel training
If you live in the Birmingham city area, you can apply for independent travel training.
We accept referrals from:
- students
- parent or carers
- school and college staff
- social workers
- transport assessors
- council workers
Eligibility
Training is free if you meet the following criteria.
You must:
- be aged between 11 and 25 years
- be eligible for BCC transport assistance
- have an education health care plan (EHCP), an identified special need, a physical disability or a medical need
- live in Birmingham
- live no more than 1 hour 15 minutes from your school, college, place of work or destination, using public transport
We will also consider exceptional circumstances.
Travel time criteria may depend on an individual's ability to access training.
