Exporting food

You must have a Food Export Health Certificate before you distribute food products to other countries. This certificate is issued at a charge and your food business must already be registered with us when you apply.

You will need to apply for a certificate each time you want to export a consignment (batch of goods).

Fees

If an inspection is required

For the first hour, charges are £160. After the first hour, charges are £82 for each additional hour (or partial hour).

If no inspection is required

£105 minimum charge.

Cancellation fees

When an export certificate has been issued and is no longer required, a £30 cancellation fee per certificate will be charged.

Approval for certain food types

Food businesses which produce or distribute certain types of meat or milk products may need separate approval. Please contact us for further information.
