The Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act gives you rights about the way that information held about you is processed, to ensure the safety of your personal details.
The act gives you the right to:
- know what information is being held about you
- know what your information is being used for and why
- know where the information came from and who has accessed it
- request to access your information
- take action to block, correct, erase or destroy false or wrong information about you
