What is a Business Improvement District (BID)?

Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are areas where local businesses have voted to improve their local environment through new projects and extra services.

Local businesses pay a mandatory BID levy to fund things like:

• marketing, promotions and events
• town centre management
• physical improvements
• additional street cleaning

They pay this levy on top of their business rates.
