Eligibility
To qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant, either you or someone living in your home must be disabled.
Additionally, you or the person you're applying for must:
- own the property or be a tenant
 - intend to live in the property for at least 5 years (the current grant period)

We must be satisfied that the proposed work is:
- necessary and appropriate to meet the disabled person’s needs
 - reasonable and feasible, considering the age, condition and layout of the property

An Occupational Therapist (OT) will first need to assess whether you're eligible. As part of this process, they'll look at whether equipment or small adaptations can help, as smaller solutions must be tried before considering major changes to your home. They may also require medical evidence in writing that shows rehabilitation and treatment have been completed, to ensure you have reached your full potential. Any adaptations must also be the most affordable and practical option.
Please note: Demand for this grant is high. We can only offer support to those who meet the eligibility criteria and are in the greatest need.
