Activities and Events

Welcome to our guide to the activities and events organised by Birmingham Parks Ranger Service this Winter. Here you will find information about how you can join us out and about in Birminghams Countryside.

Please refer to the attached guides for a full list of activities and events for January.

Everyone is welcome at our events and many of our activities are suitable for families; however, please remember children must be accompanied by an adult.

Also craft events often involve paints and glue and they can get messy.

On practical conservation activities and walks, suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear are advisable. Bringing your own binoculars on walks can add to your enjoyment.

Booking information

The majority of events organised by the Ranger Service are free and you can just turn up on the day, however for some events booking is essential due to limited spaces or materials. Some events may have a small charge. Please check the listings and contact the ranger site to make your bookings, charges will be payable on the day.

Locations

Activities starting at a Ranger Service base will normally have car parking and accessible toilets. Not all activities start or are held at our Ranger Service bases and these sites may not have these facilities available. Please refer to listings and contact ranger sites for further information.

Access

Due to the terrain covered by some activities, especially walks, visitors may require further information about the route. We are happy to provide specific information about the route to enable you to assess the suitability for yourself however we will make reasonable adjustments to routes if possible. It may be possible to arrange a Landrover for groups, who may otherwise find exploring the site difficult. All sites have portable induction loops. Please contact the specific ranger site prior to visiting, so that we can ensure you get the most out of your visit.

Groups

Organised parties are asked to contact us in order to check on the suitability of an event for a large group. It is possible to organise a separate event for a large group eg. a community group, playgroup or a faith organisation. A selection of walks and talks for groups can be provided by most sites which can be tailored to your groups needs.
