Antisocial Behaviour

Antisocial behaviour can affect people in many ways, from nuisance behaviour to feeling in danger. We have set up BASBU (Birmingham Antisocial Behaviour Unit) to deal with cases of antisocial behaviour throughout the city.

Drug/Substance Misuse - Drugs are categorised A, B and C. It is illegal to possess them or to supply or to cultivate them. You are likely to be arrested on being caught. Do contact the police if you are worried about drug dealing or know about drug use in your area. Remember, never put your safety at risk.

Vandalism - Vandalism and Graffiti are forms of criminal damage. Criminal damage is defined as deliberately or recklessly destroying or damaging someone else’s home, building, vehicle or other items. Graffiti includes painting, writing, soiling, marking and defacing property. Local authorities have been empowered to tackle problems related to vandalism.

Neighbour Nuisances - Our Environmental Health team deals with problems related to neighbour nuisances. They also work with partner agencies like West Midlands Police and Environmental Health to investigate and resolve issues related to neighbour nuisances. You can contact us if you are having problems related to excessive noise, parking, excessive visitors, noise from industry, intimidation, etc.

Antisocial Behaviour - Gangs - People often find it intimidating and may sometimes feel threatened when large groups of youths hang around in public spaces like shops, parks or on streets. You can report any sort of gang crime to the police or call up Crimestoppers.

Antisocial behaviour involving council tenants is dealt with by the council's network of local antisocial behaviour teams. If you or the perpetrator of the antisocial behaviour is a council tenant, you should contact your local housing or neighbourhood office.
