Benefits to your community

Perry Barr has already been made more accessible through improved public transport connections, along with roads and infrastructure that make it simpler for residents to get around. The new Sprint bus rapid transit service and railway station, along with an enhanced bus interchange, are enabling the local community to quickly reach other West Midlands towns, as well as key employment and cultural sites, such as Birmingham Airport and the NEC.

Overall, the package of improvements are placing people at the heart of Perry Barr, creating a visible sense of place, with:

  • An attractive local centre that brings together both sides of the A34 corridor.
  • Great public transport within easy reach
  • Approximately 5Km of dedicated cycle and pedestrian-safe routes in and around the Perry Barr area
  • Surface level crossing at Birchfield Island on all four arms and capping of the existing underground making it easier and safer to cross Birchfield Road
  • A road network that is more accessible and safer to use, with walkable spaces to encourage people to not use their cars for short trips.
