These tests aim to assess your cognitive capabilities and your ability to carry out tasks necessary to the post applied for. Aptitude tests take different forms depending on the post applied for, but maybe one of the following:
- Verbal reasoning
- Non verbal reasoning
- Diagrammatic, spatial and mechanical reasoning
- Fault diagnostics
Aptitude tests are usually timed assessments. The test may also be specifically developed for the role itself, for example, using a particular software program or data inputting. Some organisations such as the Police Force and the Civil Service have their own aptitude tests and resources are available to help you prepare for these specific assessments.
