Overview
The Creating a Mentally Healthy City Forum is a partnership sub-committee of the statutory Health and Wellbeing Board. The Forum's focus is on developing and delivering a multi-agency public health approach to mental health and wellbeing in the City.
If you would like to join the Forum, email mentalwellbeing@birmingham.gov.uk
The Forum is chaired by the Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care.
The forum delivers specific characteristics of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Creating a Bolder, Healthier City for Birmingham 2022 to 2030. It responds to priorities under the Mental Wellness and Balance theme and priorities.
This ensures the delivery of the Prevention Concordat for Better Mental Health which was adopted by the Health and Wellbeing Board in 2023.
The Concordat is underpinned by an understanding that taking a prevention focused approach to improving the public’s mental health is a valuable contribution to achieving a fairer and more level society. The Concordat promotes evidence-based planning and commissioning to increase the impact on reducing health inequalities.
The forum enables local partnership between the Local Authority, NHS, third and voluntary sector organisations, faith groups, the business community, and the wider Public Health sector to collectively develop and implement the Creating a Mentally Healthy City and Suicide Prevention Strategy.
