Tourism service

Our tourism service works with partners across the city and region to improve the visitor experience and tourism infrastructure in Birmingham. We work closely with West Midlands Growth Company to promote the city’s attractions, develop visitor information and support businesses to reach their potential.

As a member of the Birmingham, Solihull and Black Country Local Visitor Economy Partnership, we work with our partner local authorities, VisitEngland and Department of Culture, Media and Sport on regional and national issues including accessibility, sustainability and skills.

Birmingham Visitor Destination Plan

We developed the Birmingham Visitor Destination Plan 2022-27 with input from a wide range of stakeholders from the city’s visitor economy. The plan aims to transform Birmingham into a must-visit destination by promoting its diverse attractions, rich history, and vibrant culture. It provides a framework of activities to help:

  • increase awareness of visitor economy businesses in Birmingham
  • increase the number of visitors and length of stay in Birmingham
  • improve the accessibility and sustainability of visitor economy businesses
  • engage with the travel trade and develop coach tourism
  • promote connectivity between city centre and outlying destinations in Birmingham
