End the tenancy of someone who has died

If a council tenant has died, please complete the Tell Us Once form. Tell Us Once is a service that lets you report a death to most government organisations and your local council in one go.

Alternatively you can contact one of our Customer Services Centres. We may need a copy of the death certificate.

You will normally have two weeks to empty the property and return the keys. After this time the deceased tenant’s estate will be charged.
