What happens on moving out day

Before you hand in your keys

Make sure you:

  • turn the water off at the stop tap
  • turn off gas and electric at the meter or fuse board
  • check the doors are locked and secure
  • leave the property in the same condition as you when you moved in

Edgbaston, Northfield, Selly Oak

In these areas, somebody from the South voids team will collect your keys.

All other areas

You must take your keys to the office.

Rent arrears

Liaise with the rent team if you owe rent when you leave your property.

Checks

In Edgbaston, Northfield and Selly Oak (South Voids team), an officer will check the property on your moving out date. They will make sure that the improvements and repairs requested during the moving out process have been completed. If they have not, you will be charged.

In other areas, a contractor will complete the checks some time after you have moved out.
