What to do if your joint tenant dies

We have general guidance on what to do after someone dies.

When you use the government's tell us once service or inform the council of your joint tenant's death, our customer contact centre will arrange for one of our visiting officers to visit you.

At this visit, we will complete a form together. The tenancy will then continue in your name, and you will be the sole tenant. Your tenancy agreement will be updated.
