Withdrawal of the GCSx secure email service
Birmingham City Council (BCC) and Birmingham Children’s Trust (BCT) have changed the way that secure emails are sent to - and received from - partner organisations, other local authorities and the government.
These changes relate to the UK government’s withdrawal of the secure email service (GCSx) at the end of March 2019, the use of Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption process and the subsequent introduction of Microsoft’s Office 365 email encryption process (OME) by BCC and BCT from the start of September 2020.
