Be Active scheme

This award-winning scheme offers a diverse range of free activities for all Birmingham residents to enjoy.

Activities include swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions at certain times during the day.

To become a member of Be Active you will need two forms of ID with your name and address on. We will accept:

  • current leisure card
  • Council Tax bill from Birmingham City Council
  • utility bill
  • tenancy agreement
  • driving licence
  • bank statement

If you live in a residential hostel or similar communal accommodation, including if you are seeking asylum, we will accept a letter from the accommodation provider confirming your residential status. It must be on official letterhead and signed by the accommodation manager.

If you are living in Birmingham under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, your host can write a letter confirming that you are living in their home under this scheme. It must include the full postal address and be signed by your host.

You must attend an induction session before using the gym. The induction is included free as part of the Be Active scheme.
