Impact on families, service providers and professionals

Support for families

We have listened to families’ voices to ensure the Best Start in Life Strategy shapes services around real needs and experiences.

We aim to make it easier for families to get the support they need, when they need it.

This includes:

  • better joined‑up support from pregnancy through the early years
  • improved access to early education, childcare and family services
  • a focus on helping children develop, grow and be ready for school

Direction for early years providers

Early years and childcare providers play a key role in delivering the strategy and how it is put into action.

The strategy provides a clear shared direction for early years support across Birmingham including:

  • stronger partnership working across services
  • a focus on quality, inclusion and early development
  • clear priorities that guide future planning, support and improvement

Joined-up framework for professionals and partners

For professionals and partners working with young children and families, the strategy offers a joined‑up framework for working together across the city.

It helps to:

  • align priorities across education, health and family support
  • strengthen collaboration from pre‑birth to age five
  • turn shared goals into practical action and measurable outcomes
