Welcome from the Chief Executive, Dawn Baxendale

senior management roles

Thank you for your interest in our vacancies.  Birmingham is a place with an impressive past and its citizens deserve an impressive future.  The city is going through a renaissance, seeing tremendous growth and regeneration.

Late last year, Birmingham was announced as the host city for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, but this is just the start.  The Games is a stepping stone.  We also have HS2, a significant economic growth agenda in the West Midlands and we have just been shortlisted as a potential new home for Channel Four.Dawn Baxendale, Chief Executive

Birmingham City Council is very much on a journey of improvement.  We are getting the council’s finances back on track and we continue to work closely with the Birmingham Independent Improvement Panel – but the journey has begun, starting with the first ever all-out elections in more than a decade last month.

I am determined to return Birmingham to its rightful place within the local government family.  Now I am looking to enhance the team that will help me and the politicians to transform the council – determined to get the right people in place.

You need to be excited by the opportunity and you need to understand that you are coming in at the beginning of a journey and it is going to be hard, hard work.

I am very much up for the challenge, having taken on my role in April this year.

So if you are excited by a challenge and want to make a positive difference every day to the lives of the people who live and work in Birmingham apply for one of these roles and be part of our team.
