Household Support Fund: Application Based Support

The Household Support Fund (HSF), provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is a fixed amount of money available to the local authority to support households in most need with essentials such as:

  • food
  • energy
  • essential goods and supplies, including water

Various forms of assistance are being offered to address a wide range of household circumstances.

HSF Round 7 Update 23 June 2025

The Hardship Grant Community Fund scheme is now open for new enquiries.

The fund will operate until 31 March 2026, allowing plenty of time for you to apply if you are eligible.

If you have submitted a successful enquiry since the current scheme opened on 23 June 2025, you are on the waiting list and will be contacted within the next 4 weeks to complete your full application.

We ask that you are patient while the team work through the waiting list.

Make sure that:

  • you turn your voicemail on - the team can leave you a message if you miss your call
  • your phone accepts calls from withheld or private numbers

Completing the enquiry form does not mean that you are automatically entitled to receive a grant payment.

We will check your eligibility during the application process. You may need to submit further documents. This is to verify the details you supply as part of your application, before any grant payment is made.

If:

  • you are not on the waiting list
  • it has been 12 months since your household last received a grant payment
