Lighting up the library for Birmingham Pride weekend 2026
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026
After twilight on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, the exterior façade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up in different colours to mark Birmingham Pride weekend.
Birmingham Pride started in 1997 and is now one of the UK’s biggest LGBTQ+ festivals. Each year it brings thousands of people into the city for a weekend of celebration, visibility and support.
Across the weekend:
- over 40,000 people visit the festival site in the LGBTQ+ village
- more than 75,000 people take part in or watch the Pride parade
Pride helps create a city where everyone can live without fear or prejudice. It also supports the LGBTQ+ community year-round through projects and partnerships across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
