Lighting up the library in support of activism against gender based violence
Tuesday 25 November 2025

After sunset on Tuesday, 25 November, the Library of Birmingham will be lit orange to support activism against gender based violence.
Every year, from 25 November to 10 December, the world unites for 16 Days of Activism, a global movement to end violence against women and girls.
It happens everywhere in homes, schools, workplaces, and online. It affects every community. In the UK, it’s been declared a national emergency. Over 16 Days, people across the UK and around the world will speak out, stand up, and take action to demand a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence and fear.
