The Building Birmingham Scholarship provides access to a wide range of education, employment and training opportunities for talented young people aged between 16 and 24 years of age wishing to pursue a career in the construction and built environment sectors; as well as financial support for those aspiring to continue studies at higher education level at college or university on relevant courses.
You can find out more in the leaflet below:
The scholarship offers a flexible ‘menu of support’ tailored to meet the needs of individual young people ranging from access to work placements, internships, apprenticeships and other employment opportunities and access to a bursary fund to help towards tuition fees for Birmingham residents attending a local college or university.
In partnership with the council’s Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust contractors, the council will be opening placement and internship opportunities in 2015 for young people to gain valuable experience, increase their skills, improve their confidence and aspirations and to help prepare them for the world of work.
The programme will also provide personalised coaching and mentoring support and work towards creating a new talent pool of young people who will make a positive impact on the built environment and life of the city.
Launched in November 2013, the city council held an annual event to celebrate the fantastic success of the Building Birmingham Scholarship programme within its first year and our new 2014 scholars had the opportunity to meet our partner contractors; Celebrating Success below.
