Education and attainment data
This page contains key information for schools around the collection and analysis of assessment data. The focus will be on the summer collections for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP), Phonics, Key Stage 1 (optional), and Key Stage 2.
Primary Collections 2026
As in previous years, we will be collecting data for EYFSP, Phonics and Key Stage 1 (optional). The Key Stage 2 assessments will be uploaded directly to the Department for Education (DfE) using Primary Assessment Gateway.
Local guidance
This local guidance complements the statutory guidance published by the DfE on assessment and reporting arrangements.
The main assessment and reporting arrangements documents are available on the STA website.

Software
You should make sure you have appropriate support in place for recording assessments and exporting final data. Most schools will record the assessments in their management information system (MIS).
File request (Perspective Lite)
As part of the statutory EYFSP and Phonics collections process, as well as the optional Key Stage 1, we will now use the file request module within Perspective Lite as the preferred method of secure data transfer.
Schools already access Perspective Lite to view pupil reports and summaries.
All state-funded schools and academies within Birmingham must securely submit their annual EYFSP, Phonics results and optional Key Stage 1 to us by the specified deadlines.
Read the File request (Perspective Lite) guidance for help to submit files.
Confirmation forms
Links to the confirmation forms are available in the recording and submission guidance documents.
Reports
Once we have received and processed your data for EYFSP, Phonics, and Key Stage 1, we will provide you with reports that allow you to check the data before it is sent to the DfE. These reports are published on Perspective Lite.

Moderation appeals process for Key Stage 2 for 2026
One of our statutory duties following moderation is to notify the head teacher of each moderated school whether the assessments in that school are accurate and consistent with national standards.
If a school disagrees with the changes moderators have made to their original teacher assessment judgement, the following procedures apply.
