The west side of the city is very busy with redevelopment work.

Work on the Paradise project started in January 2015. Over ten years, the area is being transformed into a vibrant mixed use development of commercial, civic, retail, leisure and hotel space, with major improvements to pedestrian access and enhanced public spaces.

The council is transforming Centenary Square to provide a flexible public space, with trees, tall lighting columns, a reflecting pool and a space suitable for large events.

The Metro system is being extended from New Street through to Centenary Square, the first part of a route out to Five Ways and Edgbaston.

Next to the iconic Alpha Tower, the Arena Central development will include the new home of HSBC in Birmingham.

The city council and our development partners are committed to keeping Birmingham moving throughout the redevelopment, but there will be some unavoidable disruption.
