Help to use or move around your home
If you have difficulty getting around your home, we might be able to help.
All Birmingham residents who are either elderly, or at least 18-years-old and have a physical disability that makes it hard to use or move around their home, are entitled to a free needs assessment.
This means that one of our occupational therapists will visit you in your home to assess your needs and provide advice.
The occupational therapist may recommend minor adaptations to your home, such as installing hand rails or lever taps, or major adaptations, such as installing a stair lift or downstairs bathroom.
If your home needs major adaptations, we’ll also complete a financial assessment with you as you may be eligible for financial help through schemes such as the Disabled Facilities Grant.
