Permanent library closure
Sutton Coldfield library
Sutton Coldfield library will close on 27 June 2025.
The nearest alternative libraries are:
- Boldmere library – 1.6 miles away (around a 30-minute walk or 7-minute drive in light traffic)
- Mere Green library – 1.9 miles away (around a 37-minute walk or 8-minute drive in light traffic)

Temporary library closures
Aston library
Aston library will be open on Mondays only from 9:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm, until further notice.
Balsall Heath library
Balsall Heath library is closed for major building and remodelling works, including adding a mezzanine floor.
Progress on opening the library will be published here as soon as possible.

The nearest libraries to Balsall Heath library are Kings Heath library and Sparkhill library.
Spring Hill library
The library is closed until further notice due to issues with the building. Due to the age and current state of the pipework in the building, a new heating solution is required. A feasibility study has been approved to obtain a quote for a new boiler.
The Library of Birmingham is less than a mile away from Spring Hill library, offering an alternative service for members of the public during the closure.
Progress on opening Spring Hill Library will be published here as soon as the necessary works have been scheduled.
