Apply for a grant

Grant funding is limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Applications are limited to 1 per business so that as many businesses as possible benefit from the BEAS funding.

If you received BEAS funding as part of the 2024/25 programme, you can apply to this programme if you did not receive in excess of £100,000 grant and there are still measures recommended in the audit that you have not implemented.

How to apply

If you are a business based in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull or Walsall Council areas, email Birmingham City Council for a BEAS application: wmgp@birmingham.gov.uk.

If you are a business based in the Coventry City Council area, apply directly to Coventry City Council for a free energy audit. They will support you to complete your BEAS application form. Email: Business@coventry.gov.uk.

What to provide with your application

You will need to provide quotes for all the project expenditure items.  You will need to provide:

  • 1 quote for items up to £2,499
  • 3 quotes for items from £2,500 to £24,999 - this can be for 1 item or the sum of many items from 1 supplier.

Quotes for project expenditure should not be from:

  • persons or businesses connected to your business
  • its directors
  • its shareholders

For items over £25,000, you should carry out a tender process.

What happens next

Timescales

The grant application process can take up to 3 months.

If your business is classified as ‘energy-intensive’ (using over 0.75 gigawatt-hours per year), the process can take up to 6 months.

Reporting

You do not need to provide regular reports on the progress of your project, however, you must report any issues that arise during the project to your allcated project officer.

You should also report any jobs created as a result of receiving a grant.

The programme funders need to know the impact that projects have had on businesses, so you will need to complete an impact survey when your project has finished. The information you provide may be used on the BEAS testimonials page

You may also be asked to take part in a press release.
