Before you apply
Before you apply for a grant, you must have an energy audit caried out on your business premises.
The audit will create a report outlining energy efficiency recommendations.
When you will need an energy audit
You will need to have an energy audit if:
- you have not had an energy audit completed before
- it has been more than 2 years since you had an energy audit
If you have had an energy audit completed in the last 2 years, you do not need to register for another audit.
You will need to submit your energy audit with your BEAS grant application.
How to register
To register for your free energy audit / assessment you will need to provide your:
- recent energy bill details (gas and electricity)
- Companies House number – for limited companies, or
- company registration number – for CICs

After you register
For standard applications, you will usually receive a response within 72 hours.
Arranging an audit can take up to a month.
You will usually receive your energy report within 2 to 3 months
When you receive the report
- You do not have to apply for a grant. You can decide whether or not to implement the report recommendations.
- You can apply for funding to cover all or some of the report recommendations.
