Population overview
Birmingham has a growing population of older people. By the year 2040, the total population aged 55 to 64 is expected to rise by 4% to 115,000. The expected rise in older people may mean a higher demand for health and social care services, therefore it is vital that more is done to prevent the occurrence of health conditions earlier in the 50s, so that people remain healthy and active for longer.
