Tell us you have changed your name or contact details
If you are registered for Council Tax and you have recently changed your name or contact details, you must tell us immediately. It is important that your information is correct for our records so that it does not cause issues with your bill.
Before you start
You must have your Council Tax billing reference number to hand. This number has 10 digits and starts with '50'. You can find it in the top right corner of your Council Tax bill.
If you are updating your own name
- Log into your BRUM account
- Visit Council Tax Online
- Select the 'Update' link on the right-hand side of your account details
If your Council Tax Online account is not yet verified, you will need to upgrade it when you sign in.
Before you tell us your name change you will need to sign in or register for a BRUM account, this will allow you to keep track of all your communications with the council.
If you are updating someone else's name
If your name is not on the Council Tax account, but you need to change the name of the person who is responsible, you must tell us by completing a change of address form.
What happens next
We will update our records with your name or contact details change. The next documentation you receive from us will show your new name on it.
