Children’s health and wellbeing

The Library has a range of resources to help parents support their children’s health and well-being.

When a Book Might Help is a collection of stories that can help children of all ages cope with sometimes difficult life experiences. Topics include:

  • New experiences
  • Medical matters such as visiting hospital
  • Family situations
  • Bed wetting
  • Bereavement
  • Emotions
  • Living with conditions such as autism and Tourettes
  • Behaviour

The Parents’ Collection provides a wealth of information on all of these topics and more, including course books for childcare students, and you will find both collections conveniently placed next to each other in the Children’s Library.

Teen Health resources cover a wide range of health issues including smoking, drugs, alcohol, puberty, mental health, sexuality and bullying.
