Apply to join the affordable housing register

The affordable housing register lists homes available under different rent and ownership schemes.

Homes listed through the affordable housing register are separate to the council and housing association homes available when you have been accepted onto the social housing register.

You can apply for social housing on Birmingham Choice.

Types of homes on the affordable housing register

Different ways of renting or buying homes on the register may include:

  • affordable rented products such as affordable private rent or rent to buy
  • affordable home ownership such as shared ownership, low-cost home ownership, and First Homes

Eligibility requirements

Depending on the property and scheme, there will be eligibility requirements and these will be listed with the property details. They may include:

  • an income cap
  • be a first-time buyer

Apply to join the affordable housing register

When you join the affordable housing register, we will email you when properties become available. If you are eligible you can register your interest in a property and we will guide you through the process.

You can join the affordable housing register without affecting your place on the waiting list for social housing (the housing allocations scheme).

Sign up by emailing AffordableHousingRegister@birmingham.gov.uk and we will guide you through the process.

By joining the affordable housing register, you agree to us emailing you with details of available properties, updates to the scheme, and any changes to the scheme you need to know about.
