Ward meetings
The council supports ward meetings for all 69 Birmingham wards, working with councillors (also known as elected members). This support is facilitated in part by the Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit.
Ward meetings focus on topics that are important to people in their local area. They are one way that people can help shape where they live, creating conversations between local groups, residents, and the council.
Ward meetings:
- enable community engagement, debate and action through the work of councillors with neighbourhood forums, residents’ associations and neighbourhood, community or parish councils
- allow comments to be made on behalf of ward residents on significant planning applications which affect the ward
- support the development and delivery of Ward Action Plans
- enable work with other wards, and to engage with partners, such as the police.
Ward meetings usually occur in person or virtually over Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and residents are welcome to attend.
All ward meetings are listed on the council’s Committee Management Information System (CMIS).
