If you are concerned about a rough sleeper
If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough, tell StreetLink.
StreetLink sends an alert to the local rough sleeper outreach team. They will try to find the person and offer support.
Organisations that can help
The following organisations provide support for people sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness.
Trident Reach
Trident Reach provides accommodation and support for people sleeping rough in Birmingham. They also run the rough sleeper outreach service.
St Basils
St Basils supports young people aged 16 to 25 years who are homeless or sleeping rough. They have a dedicated outreach team for young people.
Birmingham and Solihull Women's Aid
Birmingham and Solihull Women's Aid supports women affected by domestic abuse, including women who are sleeping rough because of domestic abuse.
Cranstoun
Cranstoun provides housing and support services for people sleeping rough, including help with:
- domestic abuse
- staying safe and reducing harm
- money and debt
- benefits
- independent living
- planning for long-term housing
SIFA Fireside
SIFA Fireside provides practical support and advice for people sleeping rough, including access to:
- breakfast
- showers
- laundry facilities
- emergency accommodation
- tenancy support
- legal advice
- debt and benefits support
- employment support
- referrals to specialist support agencies for people who cannot access public funds
They also provide specialist support for people affected by modern slavery.
Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP)
The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) provides emergency accommodation during severe weather.
SWEP is activated when there is a severe weather warning or when the temperature feels like 0°C or below.
When SWEP is active, extra emergency accommodation is available so that people do not have to sleep outside during severe cold or extreme heat.
Trident Reach coordinates access to SWEP and delivers the rough sleeper outreach service.

If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough during severe weather, send an alert through StreetLink.
The Trident Reach outreach team will try to find the person and offer support. When SWEP is active, this may include emergency accommodation.
